Since being named as Mixmag’s youngest ever ‘Future Hero’ back in 2004, Denney’s career had taken him across the world, with gigs across Europe, Australia, and America; at prestigious settings like Ibiza’s DC10 with Jamie Jones’ Paradise.
With the success of the bestselling Ultraviolet landing him a deal with Hot Creations camp and winning support from heavyweights like Sasha, Damian Lazarus, Pete Tong, and many more, it seemed that the only way to go was up. Denney’s reign continued with releases on VIVa Music, 2020 Vision and Saved Records, along with tours and collaborations that built him a reputation as a solid performer who consistently delivers a distinctive blend of house and techno.
After kicking of 2017 with releases on Jackathon Jams and collaborations with Derrick Carter and Roger Sanchez, he embarked on the UK and international Full Circle EP Tour. Later that same year his dancefloor rework of Mekon’s What’s Going On was crowned ‘Hottest Record’ by Annie Mack and picked by Pete Tong as his ‘Essential New Tune,’ cementing the track as the runaway dance hit of the summer.
Keeping up this level of consistency doesn’t happen by accident, and here Denney appears in conversation to discuss the hours of hard work, studio time, and networking that have gone into his career. Refusing to ever settle into an easy classification, he’s recently shaken up his style with his work with Global Underground, as he continues to challenge himself and evolve as an artist.
