Reconciling the relationship between dance music and drug use may be one of the last barriers keeping the underground movement from mainstream respectability. UK Dance music has evolved massively since the days of illegal raves, and while singing about taking a pill in Ibiza can get you a number 1 hit; dangerous drug use can shut down venues and end lives as well as careers. This panel will confront the spectre of unsafe drug use and look at how we can implement harm reduction measures on the frontlines of the scene; examining the measures that are already becoming common practice and they effects they’ve had on the night time economy.
